Welcome to CMC, in this article we will talk about how to choose the right type of motor for your garage door. If you have a Roller Door, we have 2 different options with different prices and warranty terms. We offer the Gliderol Gen2 with 5 years warranty, at the time of writing, prices start from around $650, installed.
The Gliderol motor will come with 2 remote controls. The second option is the Merlin MR855MYQ, this will come with 7 years of warranty, accessories include 2 remotes and 1 wireless wall switch. And at the time of writing, the Merlin motor starts from around $750, installed. If you have a light industrial roller door, we recommend the GRIFCO LR-DRIVE light industrial roller door motor, this model comes with 2 remotes, 1 wireless wall switch and 1 backup battery.
If you have a sectional or tilt door, we can recommend the Gliderol or Merlin motor for similar prices but we will need more information to recommend the most suited model.
For example, let us know if you have a small, single garage or a big double door.
For a single garage door, we can offer the Gliderol Genesis motor with 2 remotes and 5 years warranty.
If you have a double door, it’s better to go for the Gliderol Genesis Optima with more power. If you prefer the Merlin brand, we can recommend the Merlin Commander Elite MS105MYQ with 7 years warranty. For heavier or bigger sectional doors, you can also choose the Merlin Commander Extreme which is more expensive but with more power to suit your door size.
For heavier Tilt doors, we recommend something bigger such as the ATA ATS2.
The above is just a quick guide to show that we work with all brands and models of motors and we will recommend the most suitable motor for YOUR door type and size. It’s important to get the right type of motor to ensure it lasts longer and more importantly, for warranty reasons.
Did you know, if you mistakenly choose a residential motor for a commercial use garage door, you can void your warranty?
So speak to us first, our experienced staff with help you select the right type of motor to suit your requirements and budget. We will explain the difference between each brand including features, accessories and warranty. And our installer who has more than 17 years of experience will do the highest standard of installation for you.
As for prices, we know it’s tempting to go for a cheaper quote but from our experience, this is what we know.
An installer who charges dramatically cheaper is GENERALLY less experienced. Or a product which is dramatically cheaper in price, could be lower quality or does not offer sufficient service and support. There are exceptions to this statement, but this is generally the case. Therefore, we recommend you choose a highly skilled, experienced installer to help you avoid mistakes and problems in the future.
We hope this has helped to give you a better understanding of the different of motors out there. Thank you for visiting and we hope to talk to you soon!
